Athletes enjoy this course for its beauty and small-town atmosphere. Montauk is a quaint fishing and surfing town on the easternmost tip of Long Island. The town is known for its natural beauty and sports enthusiastic visitors.  Montauk is one of the birthplaces of triathlon. The sport is growing and athletes want to challenge themselves with longer events. There are few metro area triathlons of this distance. In addition to providing a venue for the athletes, this event will showcase Montauk at a time when the weather is still nice but the summer crowds are not as heavy. This is a great family weekend to spend on the east end with the Olympic and Sprint triathlons both taking place on Sunday.

Help support the Brookhaven Town Volunteer Firefighter's Museum by running or walking a 5k at Fireman's Park.  The Brookhaven Town Volunteer Firefighters Museum was founded as a non-profit educational facility and museum whose purpose is to enhance the public's knowledge of the history of volunteer firefighting by preserving the artifacts from individuals and surrounding fire departments. The mission is to exhibit examples of the history and heritage of firefighting, preserve unique examples of apparatus, to showcase the supporting fire associations and to provide a memorial to all who have answered their last alarm.

Cross country races for grades K-8 with ribbons awarded to all finishers. All races finish on the varsity baseball field and full course maps can be found below. Thank you for participating in the National MPS Society Run/Walk, and Post Office Cafe's 35th Annual 5K & 1K Fun Run. This event will raise awareness and funds for the National MPS Society. In our community, the Walk/Run will be held at the Post Office Cafe in celebration of Mark and Casey Lessing. In 2010, Mark lost his 20 year battle with the disorder MPS IIIA. His sister Casey passed away July, 2016 at the age of 24. MPS and related diseases are genetic disorders that affect major organs in the body, including the respiratory system, heart, bones, and nervous system. Affecting mostly children, it is caused by the body's inability to produce certain enzymes. There are hundreds of children around the country waiting for a treatment and eventually a cure for these rare, progressive, and deadly diseases. The National MPS Society's mission is to provide support for individuals and their families affected by MPS or ML. Our goals are to increase public and professional awareness and to support research. The Society's ultimate goal is to find a cure for MPS disorders.

Veterans 4K XC Race The Northport Running Club presents the 46th Annual Veterans Day 4K Cross Country Race. The race will be held at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Golf Course, 79 Middleville Road, Northport NY! The idea for The Witching Hours was born on the Long Island trails, during shared miles and endless conversations among three friends. We lost one of those friends this year, and we are committed to honoring her by carrying forward the same spirit that inspired the race from the beginning. For us, that means creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive space for trail runners of all backgrounds and experience levels. Whether you’re chasing a new distance PR, trying your first trail event, or simply looking for a day in the woods with good people and good food, you’ll have a place at The Witching Hours. The race takes place on the trails of Manorville Hills, part of the Paumanok Path and one of Long Island’s most distinctive and expansive trail systems. With 3-, 6-, 12-, and 24-hour options, The Witching Hours invites runners and hikers to move at their own pace along a 5K loop featuring pine-lined woods, soft, needle-covered paths, and rolling hills. The course is runnable and beginner-friendly, while approximately 270 feet of elevation gain per loop provides enough of a challenge to keep experienced trail runners engaged. 2026 Date - December 12th Long Island has a rich and deep running culture. There are multiple events every weekend to choose from. However, runners that enjoy longer race distances or trail events have only a few options to choose from over the course of the entire year. This event will provide an opportunity for those that enjoy ultra or trail running to participate in a unique event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, who help maintain the trails on Long Island. A backyard ultra is not a race to see who is the fastest but see who can endure the longest. Participants will run 4.167 miles every hour on the hour, but will be required to drop out if they cannot complete the distance in that time period.  The final competitor to be able to complete a full loop will be declared the winner.  Bib Pick Up Bib numbers will be assigned at check in. You can pick up your bib early from Smithtown Running Company: Thursday, December 10th - 11 am - 7 pm Friday, December 11th - 11 am - 5 pm Race morning you can pick up your bib starting at 6:30 am from the start/finish line area. There will be no on-site sign ups on the morning of 12/12 at Blydenburgh County Park. You can only pick up your bibs, if you haven't already done so. Refunds and Deferments There are no refunds for this event. We suggest you purchase event insurance during the registration process if you think an issue may arise. You will be allowed to defer your spot 1 year if you are unable to attend. You will receive non-complimentary guaranteed entry for the next year.

Are you ready for the pain!?! For 3 hours you have to run up Cardiac, through Picnic, and up Snake, a ~1.4 mile loop.  The King and Queen of the hill will be the participants who cover the most distance during the 3 hours. The prince and princess will be crowned in a 1 hour event.
