Run for Recovery 5K

Yorktown Heights·5K

Join Search for Change, Run 4 Recovery, Drug Crisis in our Backyard and The Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK) for the 12th Annual Run for Recovery 5K Run/Walk. Participating in our Run for Recovery 5K run/walk is a powerful way to raise awareness and celebrate recovery from substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Each step symbolizes hope and resilience, honoring those who have overcome challenges. The event unites individuals, breaks stigma, and empowers others to seek help.  Crossing the finish line gives a feeling of accomplishment, knowing you have made a difference.  Recovery is possible, and together, we can inspire change. Participants are also encouraged to create a personal fundraiser and start a team to help expand the impact of this event. Fundraising is a meaningful way to honor a loved one, celebrate recovery, support prevention efforts, or advocate for mental health awareness. Teams can bring together family members, friends, coworkers, schools, organizations, or recovery communities to walk or run together in support of hope and healing. Every dollar raised helps support vital programs, education, prevention, and recovery resources in our community. We are excited to once again offer our on-site Save A Life Wellness Fair, providing attendees with access to crucial resources and information. Our virtual tool is also available to connect the public to essential resources year-round.

You can follow us on Instagram: https://instagram.com/leathermansloop and Facebook: https://facebook.com/leathermansloop Due to the popularity of the event, Loop entry is via Lottery. For more information, visit our Loop Lottery FAQ page here. We are always grateful to our race volunteers! If you'd like to sign up to volunteer, visit this page: https://leathermansloop.org/volunteer Please put leathermansloop@gmail.com and info@runsignup.com in your address book so our emails to you and the confirmation emails from RunSignUp.com do not get tagged as spam.  Thanks! -Rob, Ciorsdan, and the Leatherman Harriers volunteers PS: two additional notes: 1.) The registration cost of the Leatherman's Loop incorporates the park's entry fee into the registration cost -- so the park does not have to collect the parking fee separately from each entrant on race morning. Long ago we figured out it was more efficient for us to pay the park that fee directly rather than have hundreds of cars line up at the entrance fumbling for cash at the entrance gate to the Rez on race morning.  2.) Dogs are not permitted to run in the Loop. In 2020 the USATF began a new policy prohibiting dogs from running in races they sanction and insure. The Loop is a USATF sanctioned and insured race. Leashed dogs are welcome at the park anytime.

Fire Tower Trail Races

Cross River·Half Marathon

The Second Annual Fire Tower Trail Half Marathon and 10k Race are set for Sunday June 6, 2027 at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. The race celebrates the return of the historic fire tower to its former spot atop the Cross River Mountain in Pound Ridge. Both the half marathon and the 10k course pass by the summit where the fire tower is currently being reconstructed by the county parks department. The half marathon circumnavigates the park trails, hitting all of three the overlooks (Spy Rock, Raven Rocks, and the Leatherman Overlook) and rock features* highlighed on the trail map. The 10k is shorter but still a challenge to the top of the park. More details about the race and course including course maps are available at the website. The elevation change for the 10k is 1006 feet. The half marathon elevation change is approximately 2360 feet. See Strava maps below and at the crmfiretower.org website We are raising money for the "Friends of the Fire Tower" as we put on this race -- and continuing afterwards. The Friends group is part of the Westchester Parks Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit. The fundraising will be used for projects enhancing the accessibility of the tower to the public as well as education about the park and the historic land that it sits on. There will be opportunities for larger donations to support educational signage, canopy viewscape mapping signage, and benches at the base among other things. We hope you can come out to run the race, volunteer, and donate to support the Friends of the Fire Tower as we support the opening and continued enhancement of the Fire Tower experience at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. ....Rob & Ciorsdan, Race directors More information, photos, video, and history of the Cross River Mountain Fire Tower and our efforts to get it restored can be found at our website crmfiretower.org -- *rock features on the Rock Trail include: Raven Rocks, Castle Rock, Spy Rock, Bear Rock, Dancing Rock, and Indian Rock Shelter
